Oh hi there!
I’m Emma, a visual artist from Boorloo/Perth, passionate about the dynamic and expressive qualities of molten glass. In the studio I play with the possibilities of this amorphous solid / fluid material, allowing the mesmerising process of heating and cooling, breathing and shaping, flux and flow to sculpt each form.
Trained in the Fine Arts (Glass) program at Monash University, I’ve exhibited widely in galleries and artist-run spaces, with works purchased for notable private collections. Highlights include selection for the Craft Vistoria Fresh! Awards in 2007 and 2009, my first solo show at MARS Gallery in 2010, and being awarded a Freedman Foundation Travel Bursary in 2012, which gave flight to a series of richly rewarding residencies and technical skill development workshops in Argentina, Germany & Scotland.
Having lived interstate and overseas for a decade, I returned home to Perth and reignited my professional practice here with studio residencies at Paper Mountain, ArtsHouse, Vancouver Arts Centre, and Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA).
As an outlet for my ever-evolving collection, Emma Lashmar Art launched online and in local WA design markets & retail stores. The ethos: Crafting functional wares in blown glass to elevate the everyday.
Unique and joyful pieces, designed to bring precious focus to quiet rituals and celebratory moments
I am deeply curious about the intimate relationship we develop with the particular vessels we choose to use in our daily lives, and enjoy bringing this passion and expertise to collaborative projects for private and public spaces.
Over the years, I’ve been commissioned to design and produce custom lighting and tableware for high-profile clients, including iconic Australian restaurants Vue de Monde, Penfolds Magill Estate and, recently awarded Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year 2022, Tedesca Osteria.
I relish the challenge of creating custom installations for venues, or curating a consciously designed element for your home or workspace, so fell free to get in touch to arrange a time where we can discuss how best to realise your bold ideas.
